If you suffer from candida, UTIs or IBS or similar, listen up.
If you’ve never had such illnesses then you’ll want to know this when you do.
Bio-Kult is a vegetarian supplement range developed to boost our immune system through probiotics. So much so that a standard box of Bio-Kult contains 14 different probiotic strains.
That should be helpful if you suffer from travel sickness, diarrhoea, leaky gut syndrome, irritable bowels or eczema.
But there’s more…
Candida can be a life-changing illness when the bacteria gets out of hand – and, apparently, one third of us carry it. So, Bio-Kult have also developed a probiotic supplement called Candéa which includes powerful properties from garlic and grapefruit seed extract: these are believed to strengthen the body’s natural defences against the overgrowth of Candida.
A more common illness are Urinary Tract Infections which cause a lot of unpleasant experiences in the nether regions. Bio-Kult Pro-Cyan uses probiotics with with cranberry extract and Vitamin A to help your body to maintain a healthy urinary tract.
It’s also just recently won an award as the Best New Product from 2012 as voted for by CAM (Complimentary and Alternative Medicine) Lifestyle Magazine readers.
But where other recipes had failed, this version of the drink was a roaring success?
The key ingredient?
It is reckoned that just 3g of oat beta-glucan will lower cholesterol – the key factor in heart disease. So I’ve seen several drinks companies to try mix oats into their drinks to make them healthier.
In myopinion Dr Oats smoothies succeed where others have failed because their drinks aren’t gloopy, and they don’t taste like you’ve swallowed a foreign object. Instead they are made simply with fruits and oats. No added sugar, no fruit concentrate or anything else artificial. The taste is fruity and refreshing and it counts as 2 of your five a day.
They boldly claim that a small drink has the same cholesterol lowering power as a bowl of porridge. Can’t be bad, especially if you don’t get on with porridge.
A few days ago, I mentioned a new yet ancient Mediterranean beauty treatment called Aphrodite.
Well, it turns out there’s a masculine version of the brand called, appropriately, Appolon.
Now, you wouldn’t expect men to be hunting for beauty secrets, but they do like practical things which work. So, knowing that a combination of organic olive oil and wild herbs is good for the skin and hair is useful. The A and E vitamins in olive oil help repair and renew skin, while its antioxidants have a natural ability to nourish cells back to a healthier state.
So, consider these products if you hope to look a little more like Adonis:
Our friend chef and nutritionist, Christine Bailey, has come up with this brilliant but simple chocolate superfood recipe for Easter. Take a look…
My children love making homemade chocolates and as they follow a dairy free diet this is a perfect way to create something scrummy and healthy for Easter. I love to cram in lots of superfood powders too – these are a great way to energise and nourish your body. You could also mix in some other flavourings too – such as mulberries, goji berries, crystallised ginger or chopped nuts.

1. Melt the cacao butter and coconut butter very gently – you can do this in a pan or over a bowl of simmering water. Stir it as is dissolves.
2. Whisk in the remaining ingredients until smooth. Pour into chocolate moulds and place in the fridge to set.
In the Mediterranean there’s a traditional way to look after your hair and skin.
In Crete and Greece at least they use olive oil and wild herbs.
Women from the Minoan Civilisation would brush their hair with olive oil to keep it soft and shiny. Athletes used the oil to massage their bodies to relax their muscles. Even today it is advised that newly born babies are bathed with olive oil soap to avoid skin problems.
Aphrodite’s olive oil bodycare products will give your skin a strong and healthy, radiant look. The range includes body butter, facial scrub, eye cream, soaps, shampoo and conditioner – all using organic extra virgin olive oil.
Natural beauty secrets, practiced for centuries, will not be far away.
