Amazing low calorie biscuits and gluten free biscuits from Doves Organic

Doves quinoa and fig biscuits
Amazing new biscuits using quinoa and fig

I’m very excited about some new biscuits from Doves organic.

Why? Because they’re experimenting with quinoa and figs for their biscuits and flapjacks.

The result is Chocolate Chip Cookies at only 47 calories a biscuit (which lower than your average digestive!) … and it’s laced with chocolate and honey.

Did I mention that quinoa is a superfood? ‘Cos it is now for me!

They’ve also created some Figgy Flapjacks with whole pieces of luscious fig.

But their genius has taken the organic bakers one inspired step further. They’ve combined the two to make some amazing gluten-free Fig & Quinoa Cookies which are beautifully baked and taste golden. (No chalky, fake biscuit taste here. No nuts, dairy or any other major allergens either.) Rumour has it more quinoa cookie flavours are around the corner…

Sweet intensity from the UK’s only 100% Ethically Accredited Chocolate Company

seed & bean

Bite into a chunk of Seed & Bean chocolate and enjoy the sweet intensity that follows.

At least that’s what hits you with the Extra Dark Chocolate Mandarin & Ginger bar. I can’t speak for some of the other flavours, Rich Milk Tangerine, Extra Dark and Rich Milk Sicilian Hazelnut & Almond (yet).

However, I’m sure it’s bound to be as exotic and fulfilling as my Mandarin & Ginger experience.

The cute thing is these organic and fairtrade Seed & Bean bars now come in small bar sizes of 32g each.

And, if you believe small is beautiful, then you’ll love knowing that Seed & Bean also ‘grow’ their wrappers, making them from eucalyptus trees in Cumbria, so they are compostable and biodegradable.

In fact Seed & Bean are the UK’s only 100% Accredited Chocolate Company.

Make your own chocolate bars with 3 simple ingredients

Chocanistas of the world unite! Making chocolate is easy!

All you need is 3 simple ingredients.

Cacao powder, cacao butter and some sweetness. It’s the quality of the ingredient that counts.

Take The  Raw Chocolate Company’s Virgin Cacao Butter for example. It’s basically oil from raw organic cacao beans. Extracted without heat to ensure it keeps its nutrition, quality and wonderful chocolatey aroma.

Simple Raw Chocolate Recipe:

homemade chocolate
Enjoy making your own chocolate

90g Organic Virgin Cacao Butter
60g Raw Organic Cacao Powder
60g Organic Coconut Palm Sugar

1. Place the Cacao Butter in a bowl over a pan of hot water on a low heat and melt gently.
2. Leaving the bowl over the pan, add the coconut palm sugar to the melted oil and stir. 3. Then stir in the cacao powder and mix well using a balloon whisk or hand blender.
4. Spoon or pour into ice cube trays, silicon moulds or even a plastic tub to make one big chocolate bar!
5. Place in the fridge and leave to set.

For a flavoured Raw Chocolate, try adding any of the following: a pinch of cayenne or chilli powder, a drop or two of (food grade) peppermint or orange oil, orange zest, vanilla powder, sea salt, maca powder, dried fruit, nuts, spices… your life will never be the same again!

Mmmmmmmm, Lovechock – happiness inside

Lovechock
Sheer pleasure needs no explanation…

Want happiness on the inside?

Rumour has it that it comes in the form of chocolate…

Specifically, Lovechoc-olate.

Tenderly cold grinding the best organic Equadorian cacao (rather than burning it) allows the chocolate to keep its  antioxidant flavanoids which, we are informed, are otherwise known as love-chemicals.

The chocolate is then sweetened with coconut blossom nectar and comes unadulterated with no dairy, soya or gluten.

As a result, the flavour, no matter what the variety, is intense. But for your pleasure Lovechock comes in 5 vegan flavours:

  • Pure/Nibs
  • Almond/Fig
  • Goji/Orange
  • Pineapple/Incaberry
  • Mulberry/Vanilla

These bites taste so good, you wouldn’t believe you were eating something so healthy

Nature's Store Rice Milk Covered Rice Cakes
incredibly good taste

Oh my goodness!

I just wolfed down a pack of the tastiest ricecakes ever!

Yes, I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but the good food revolution has hit the puffed up world of ricecakes with a vengeance.

Okay, the ricecakes were mini-bites and yes, they were covered with chocolate, but I’ve tasted chocolate rice cakes before and they weren’t half as enjoyable as these Rice Milk Chocolate Coated Mini Rice Cakes.

The real fulfilment came from the purity of the experience. The chocolate had been made with rice milk keeping it lactose free and adding a symbiosm to each delightful bite. Cocoa and air-bubbles, sweetness and rice – it was near heaven.

The makers, Nature’s Store, source the finest ingredients and add nothing artificial, in this case utilising organic rice from paddy fields in Italy.

I can only hope that their other products, obviously all gluten free:

… are equally as good.

(I’ll soon find out…)
